L20 Remote Laser Methane Detector for Fast, Non-Contact Inspection
The L20 Remote Laser Methane Detector is designed for efficient, non-contact methane leak inspections across natural gas pipelines and industrial facilities. With a detection distance of up to 150 meters and a measurement range of 0–100,000 ppm·m, it enables operators to screen suspected leak locations from a distance without direct contact with the target area.
Using Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS), the L20 provides a response time of approximately 0.1 seconds, helping inspection teams identify potential methane leaks quickly and streamline routine field surveys.
Designed for Efficient Field Operations
The L20 features four scanning modes—High Sensitivity, Building, Pipeline, and Auto—to accommodate different inspection environments. A large LCD displays measurement readings, while configurable alarm thresholds and audible and visual alerts help operators recognize potential leak indications.
For improved targeting, a green-dot sight assists with aiming in daylight. An optional sighting scope supports accurate targeting of suspected leak locations over longer distances.
Bluetooth Connectivity and Field Data Recording
Bluetooth connectivity enables the L20 to work with mobile ADA software for field data management. Users can record GPS-linked readings and attach notes and photos to inspected components or locations, making it easier to document inspection findings and organize follow-up assessments.
TDLAS Technology for Remote Methane Detection
The L20 uses Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy to identify methane through its absorption of light at a specific wavelength. The detector analyzes the change in laser intensity caused by methane along the optical path and converts the signal into a methane measurement.
This laser-based approach supports remote, non-contact inspections and helps reduce the need to physically access every suspected leak point.
Typical Applications
Natural Gas and Oil & Gas Infrastructure
Inspect gas pipelines, wellheads, storage facilities, and associated equipment for potential methane leaks.
Industrial Safety and Mining
Support methane monitoring in industrial environments and mining operations where gas accumulation may present a safety concern.
Environmental Monitoring
Screen methane emissions at landfills and natural gas facilities to support environmental inspections and emissions management.
The L20 is suitable for routine methane screening where long-distance targeting, rapid response, and digital field records are important. Inspection procedures should be adapted to the operating environment and applicable safety requirements.
