Product Description

Product Overview

The AiLF L10 Remote Laser Methane Detector is a portable optical gas measurement instrument developed for efficient methane leak inspection across natural gas infrastructure and industrial environments. Using Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS), the device enables operators to identify potential methane leaks remotely, without needing to place the instrument directly at the suspected leakage point.

Designed for long-distance inspection, the L10 offers a maximum detection distance of up to 100 meters and a stated sensitivity of 5 ppm·m. Its laser-based measurement principle analyzes the absorption of light by methane molecules along the optical path, providing path-integrated methane measurement results for on-site inspection.

The instrument directs a laser beam toward a suitable target. When methane is present along the beam path, the gas absorbs a portion of the laser light. The returned optical signal is processed to determine the methane-related absorption, and the measurement result is displayed on the instrument. This non-contact method supports the investigation of suspected leaks in pipeline networks, gas facilities, and other suitable inspection environments.

To improve field inspection efficiency, the L10 features rapid measurement response, user-configurable audible alerts, and visual alarms. Bluetooth connectivity with the ADA mobile application enables inspection teams to record GPS-linked measurements, attach notes, and capture photos of monitored components and suspected leak locations. These functions support digital inspection records and leak detection and repair (LDAR) workflows.

Combining remote optical measurement, portable operation, and mobile data management, the AiLF L10 provides a practical solution for methane leak surveys and natural gas infrastructure inspection.

Key Features and Benefits

1. Long-Distance Methane Detection

With a stated detection distance of up to 100 meters, the L10 allows operators to inspect potential methane leakage points from a remote position. This capability is particularly useful for surveying selected pipeline sections and areas where direct access may be difficult.

2. TDLAS Laser Absorption Technology

The detector uses tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy to analyze methane's characteristic optical absorption. This wavelength-selective measurement approach supports methane identification along the laser beam path.

3. Path-Integrated Measurement Sensitivity

The L10 offers a stated sensitivity of 5 ppm·m and displays measurement results in ppm·m. This unit represents concentration integrated along the optical path, making it useful for evaluating methane plumes encountered during remote inspection.

4. Rapid Measurement Response

With a stated response time of less than 0.1 seconds, the L10 provides fast measurement feedback to help operators scan potential leakage areas and investigate suspected gas releases more efficiently.

5. Audible and Visual Alarm Functions

Configurable audible alerts and visual alarms notify operators of detected methane according to the instrument's alarm settings. These functions support rapid field assessment during pipeline patrols and industrial gas inspections.

6. Bluetooth Connectivity and ADA Mobile Software

The L10 connects to the ADA mobile application via Bluetooth, supporting digital collection of inspection information. Operators can associate readings with GPS location data, add notes, and capture photos to document monitored components and suspected leakage points.

7. Portable Design for Field Operations

The handheld format supports mobile inspection across gas distribution networks and industrial facilities. The stated operating features include more than 10 hours of battery runtime and no warm-up or cool-down period required for normal measurement operation.

How Laser Absorption Spectroscopy Works

Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy is an optical sensing technique that measures the absorption of laser light at selected wavelengths.

During operation, the L10 transmits a laser beam toward a target. If methane is present along the optical path, some of the laser energy is absorbed by methane molecules. The detector analyzes the returned light and processes the signal to obtain methane-related measurement information.

The resulting ppm·m reading provides an indication of methane concentration integrated along the laser path. Because measurement is performed remotely, operators can investigate suspected gas plumes without placing the detector directly against a pipe or leak source, provided a suitable optical path and target are available.

The combination of wavelength-selective sensing, optical signal analysis, and rapid measurement processing supports practical methane leak inspection in the field.

Ideal Applications

Natural Gas Pipeline Inspection

Survey suitable inspection points along natural gas transmission and distribution networks to investigate potential methane leaks.

Urban Gas Infrastructure

Support routine inspections of city gas distribution systems, pipeline corridors, and related facilities.

Oil and Gas Operations

Assist methane leak surveys around gas processing facilities, storage installations, and other suitable oil and gas infrastructure.

Environmental Monitoring

Support the investigation of methane emissions at landfills, biogas facilities, and other potential methane sources where the measurement configuration is appropriate.

Industrial Safety and Emergency Response

Provide a remote measurement option for investigating suspected methane leaks in industrial environments and supporting field assessment during gas-related incidents.

Improve Methane Inspection and Digital Recordkeeping

The AiLF L10 combines remote laser methane measurement with rapid response, configurable alarms, and mobile inspection documentation. Its long-range capability helps field teams survey selected areas efficiently, while ADA software supports organized, location-linked records for subsequent review and maintenance planning.

For natural gas utilities, pipeline operators, and industrial inspection teams, the L10 offers an optical approach to methane leak detection that brings together remote measurement and digital field reporting.
