Handheld Remote Laser Methane Leak Detector Natural Gas Pipeline Inspection Long Distance TDLAS Monitoring
Description:
The L20 from AiLF Instruments is a compact, handheld methane detection device designed for pipeline inspections, petrochemical plants, and industrial monitoring. Using advanced tunable diode laser technology, the L20 provides fast, accurate leak detection at short to medium ranges, helping professionals improve safety, reduce costs, and protect the environment.
Remote methane leak detectors (RMLD) are portable, laser-based instruments using Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS) to identify methane from a distance, typically up to 30–200 meters (100–600+ ft). These devices, allow operators to safely survey hard-to-access areas—like busy roads, elevated pipelines, or residential properties—without direct plume contact, offering fast (0.1s) response times and high sensitivity.
Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS):
Remote Laser Methane Leak Detectors operate on the principle of Tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy. They are equipped with a laser light source that emits a beam of light at a certain wavelength. When the beam of light encounters a combustible gas molecule, the molecule absorbs the light at a specific frequency, causing the laser beam to lose some of its power. The Remote Laser Methane Leak detector measures this loss of power and uses it to calculate the concentration of the gas in the air.
