100m Long Distance Remote Laser Methane Natural Gas Pipeline Leakage Detector
Description:
Remote methane leak detectors (RMLD) are portable, laser-based instruments using Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS) to identify methane from a distance, typically up to 30–200 meters (100–600+ ft). These devices, allow operators to safely survey hard-to-access areas—like busy roads, elevated pipelines, or residential properties—without direct plume contact, offering fast (0.1s) response times and high sensitivity.
TDLAS Principle:
The Remote laser methane leak monitoring systems work according to the TDLAS principle (Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy) for the detection of methane. This laser method has the advantage that it is very sensitive at the specific measuring wavelength of methane (λ = 1.65 μm) and has no relevant cross-sensitivities to other gases in the atmosphere, e.g. exhaust gases from other cars.
The TDLAS Principle also known as Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy operates with exceptional results. The advanced TDLAS technology provides you with unique gas detection capabilities. The internal laser emits a very narrow bandwidth of light.
Methane will absorb this specific wavelength of the emitted light. Other gases present will not cause any reading interference there. The remote laser methane detector will measure the light reduction caused by gas. A high-quality laser methane detection system offers unmatched gas specificity. The internal photodiode detects even those very faint light signals.

Key Features and benefits:
Technology: Uses infrared laser light to detect methane (CH4) specifically, ignoring other gases.
Safety & Efficiency: Enables surveying from 100+ feet away, crucial for hazardous, confined, or inaccessible locations.
Detection Range: Models typically range from 30 meters (100 ft) to over 200 meters.
Sensitivity: Capable of detecting 5 ppm·m or less, often allowing detection through glass or over long distances.
Data Logging: AiLF Modern units often include GPS, photo, and Bluetooth capabilities for comprehensive reporting.
